John Lewis Rooftop Garden

Being in London is amazing when you discover events like this one. This year, John Lewis collaborated with the team behind Night Tales to host a variety of pop-up eateries, activities and a garden experience in the heart of London. The rooftop garden was designed by the well-known gardener Tony Woods.

I was in oxford street and had briefly heard about the rooftop garden at the top of John Lewis. There were queues but these soon went down so I was able to take a look. It was like a little sanctuary up there. The space was designed to also attract insect life, which is great. The whole space is very clever and I especially like the meadow like feel to some parts. Being in London now, I really miss a bit of greenery and outdoor space and so this was perfect to escape to for a few minutes. Although London is a city, it is still possible to find a few little spots like this and I think it is so important just to find calm once in awhile. And it is free to enjoy too….with the exception of coffee costs haha!

The were plenty of parts to explore, from the dairy to the potted plants, quiet corners, restaurants and cafes. The Potting Shed Coffee bar and the Shotgun American Barbeque looked perfect for summer. Many people were drinking Pimm’s – definitely a must in the lovely sunshine!

The space was not huge but enough to get absorbed in. I can see the avid gardener appreciating this place as it was so picturesque and beautiful. For the active person, there is also the chance to take a yoga class on Thursday mornings with Fat Buddha Yoga – what an energising way to start the day!

If you want to check it out, make sure you are quick as it is only open until 18 September 2016! I would definitely recommend it!
